PHILIP CHEVRON was previously lead singer, guitarist and songwriter with the RADIATORS (From Space), whose second album, the 1978 recorded “GHOSTOWN” is now widely acceptable as the finest record ever made by an Irish band. He has also composed two musicals for the Dublin Theater Festival, most notably the 1979 hit production “The HAPENNY PLACE”. But he began his career in 1995, when, straight from school, he produced an album of Brecht/Weill songs for Berlin-born AGNES BERNELLE. His love of the Berlin and Munich Cabaret and Theater songs of the ’20’s and ’30’s persisted throughout his five years with Radiators (his record collection now includes almost 100 LPs of the genre, most of them extremely rare) but it has taken up until now for him to finally agree to commit his own interpretations to vinyl.

‘The Vandal’ is a one man show that SPITS his life, his FEELINGS, his FEARS and his HEART out in his songs. An honest rapper with nothing to lose and everything to gain, he’s only in it for the music, and is long way away from fast cars and money. His music is real and has been sculpted to showcase something that is unique to Scotland, the sound of a raw American ghetto rapper, with the lyrics of an award winning story teller” > LOOK OUT.
Shocking Stockings (originally Niall-on & the Shocking Stockings) were a post-punk new-wave band. Their “ironic” repertoire of pastiches varied from Reggae through Funk and Disco to Rock – a kind of early prequel to a Scissor Sisters/Darkness cross. Typically there was a seam of humorous political and social commentary in the lyrical content.
Shocking Stockings released the single RED CHINA on the Carrere Record label. This was a remix by Philip Chevron taken from the album NYLON (which may be rereleased by Mosa Records). The track PLASTIC ROCK has been renamed OBAMA ROCKS by the bands former record company MOSA RECORDS and released as a download only single.
SHOCKING STOCKINGS were:
Niall MacMahon ………guitars and vocals
Bree MacMahon ……….vocals
Dave Bourke …………….bass guitar
Terry O’Sullivan ………drums
Lila MacMahon best known for touring and recording with The Pogues, recorded DAMN the COLOURS, an album of Niall’s songs in various genres of the 90’s “Dance” era.
The album title refers to psychedelics assisting but also interfering with an understanding of things.
